Vlug Nigeria: UN threatens action over abduction of girls
A United Nations vehicle was on Tuesday fired upon by unidentified gunmen in the Southern Pakistani port c stanley cup ity of Karachi that left two persons, including a Ghanaian national injured. HT Image Two armed men riding a motorcycle fired at the vehicle as it neared an Afghan refugee settlement in Karachi thisafternoon. The Ghanaian national, a doctor, was visiting a camp in Sohrab Goth area where children were being administered polio vaccine. The Ghanaian national was hit by two bullets while the driver of the vehicle was injured in the arm. Officials toldthe media they were out of danger. No group claimed responsibility for the attack. Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani says Pakistan will go ahead with a plan to import natural gas from Iran even if the U.S. levies additional sanctions on the middle-east country. HT Image Gilani s comments, on Tuesday, come two days after the U.S. special envoy to Pakistan, Richard Holbrooke, said new sanctions being finalized by Congress could affect the deal with Iran. The prime minister said Pakistan would reconsider the gas deal if it violated UN sanctions, but not those levied unilaterally by the U.S. Iran inked a contract earlier this month to export 21.5 million cubic meters 760 million cubic feet of gas per day to Pakistan through a new pipeline beginning in 2014.
