By TIME StaffOctober 1, 2015 6:13 AM EDTWhen Pop stanley cup e Francis set out on his historic trip to Cuba and the U.S., TIME was granted a much sought-after seat on the papal plane. We asked correspondent Elizabeth Dias to share details about the experience of traveling with the Pontiff.Shepherd one, as the plane is dubbed, was an ideal perch for close coverage. The Holy Father quarters, along with those of Cardinals and Archbishops, were in the plane first section. Vatican security teams occupied the middle section, while some 75 reporters from all over the world occupied the rear. There, we followed a strict, often minute-by-minute schedule, choreographed by the Vatican months before and laid out in a thick white booklet. Security was always a factor, but not always as you might expect: we were at times able to move more freely stanley cup and closer to the Pope in Havana than in the U.S., where security was generally tighter.Francis held two press conferences while aloft: the first lasted 26 minutes as we left Cuba, the second nearly an hour as we headed back to Rome. He said he found the welcomes in Washington, New York City and Philadelphia all very warm and all Xqsr Meet the World s Newest Plants
By Alex FitzpatrickOctober 25, 2016 9:01 AM EDTOtto, the self-driving truck company owned by Uber, recently completed what it claims was the first commercial delivery by a self-driving vehicle.A truck outfitted with Otto autonomous driving technology shipped a truckload of Budweiser beer from Fort Collins, Co. to Colorado Springs, a distance of about 120 miles. Otto says the truck drove hands-free from exit to exit, though a human driver was in the cab for local streets and to take over in case of an emergency.Other Otto vehicles pre-mapped the route ahead of time, which fol salomon lowed Colorado I-25. Some naysayers may consider that cheating, but it highlights an advantage of self-driving trucking fleets: As one such vehicle travels along a particular route, it can send mapping and other data to vehicles behind it as a helpful status update. That similar to the way airline pilots share weather reports to help other aircraft avoid turbulence and storms. The beauty of highway mapping with trucking specifically is that there are only about 200,000 highway miles in the U.S., so it pretty straightforward to scale that cost, says Otto co-founder Lior Ron.For making the delivery, Anheuser-Busch paid Otto an amount comparable to the market rate for such a shipment with normal, human-driven trucks, which Ron said was about $470.Anheuser-Busch, a subsidiary of AB InBev, had been building a relation adidas og ship with Otto since the trucking jordan firm went public
